In its Radio Theatre presentation of Oliver Twist, Focus on the Family brings to life Charles Dickens’ classic about a young orphan and his difficult yet surprising journey from a country workhouse to the streets of London. This full-cast dramatization highlights the diverse and sometimes eccentric characters in this beloved story.

For me, this five CD presentation of Oliver Twist was both entertaining and moving. With top-notch acting and an intriguing story, I eagerly listened to this high-quality recording in my car and at my home. Though I may have heard this story when I was younger, I couldn’t remember the characters and the plot. I fell in love with this story. In fact, it ranks up there as a favorite for me, and I can’t wait to read the book.

This dramatization is recommended for ages 12 and older. As a mom of a younger child, I agree with this age recommendation. The recording does include some intense scenes that could be troubling and frightening to younger children. When my son is old enough to listen to this recording, though, I will gladly share it with him.

I highly recommend this Radio Theatre presentation of Oliver Twist. As mentioned on Tyndale House Publishers website, purchase of this recording will benefit Focus on the Family’s “Wait No More” adoption initiative.
