Savory Pecans & Almonds

One of my favorite snacks here lately has been nuts, particularly pecans and almonds.

As I’ve been educating myself on good fats vs. bad fats, I’ve discovered that many of the roasted and seasoned nuts sold in the grocery store are made with oils that aren’t so good for us. And so I’ve tended to steer clear of these nuts and opted for raw nuts.

But every once and while, I crave some seasoned nuts.

So earlier this week, I tried out a new recipe—Savory Pecans & Almonds. Ah, this recipe was a winner, indeed! The batch I made up didn’t last long. Did I mention these nuts are oh-so-addictive. And they are quick and easy to make. You can’t beat that.

Savory Pecans & Almonds

  • 1 ½ TBSP butter
  • 1 cup whole raw almonds
  • 1 cup pecan halves
  • 2 TBSP dried rosemary
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp onion powder
  • ¼ tsp freshly ground pepper

Directions

Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add nuts and toss in butter until well coated. Add seasonings and mix well. Roast nuts until slightly browned and aromatic (about 8 to 10 minutes). Remove from heat and allow to cool. Store in an airtight container.  Makes 2 cups of nuts.
